05-06-02  GRVS is now committed to the show in Spooner Wisconsin.  See the schedule for show details.

05-13-02  I found another reference to what N Scale cars should weigh.  It stated that the car should be .25 oz per car, plus .25 oz per each of car length.  (i.e. a 3 inch car would be .25 + .25 + .25 + .25 = 1 oz).  This works out to almost the same weight at the formula given in the 12/23/2001 post (see below).  But, as the car gets longer with this method, the weight will be more.

05-02-02  I started a schedule for the Spooner show just to show those that are interested.  If the name is blank - I have not heard from you (and assume you are not interested - GRVS members only).  Contact Damian if you want to add yourself to the schedule.

04-28-02 Click here for the Photo Album.  The Photo Album has photos from the Menomonie show (pictures provided by Nick and Damian).

New  For local Flea markets - see the Up Coming Shows area.

Made the Articles link better - see Articles for more.

01/11/2002 - Updated site (added Local Schedule).

12/23/2001 - Recommended car weight.  .5 ounces per car plus .15 ounces per car length.  (i.e. a 4 inch car is .5 + .15 + .15 + .15 + .15 = 1.1 ounces.)

12/16/2001 - I found the neat little scale ruler that I made some time back.  It is about 6 inches long and has the scales for O, TT, S, HO, N and Prototype.  I made a .pdf file of it and you can get it here.  print it out with the "Fit to Page" option turned off (it should print very close to scale).

11/02/2001 - GRVS has some meetings scheduled for this fall/winter.  These will typically happen once a month.  Some have been scheduled for a members home (with the layout being the focal point - of course).

09/15/2001 - Click here for a check list to use prior to each show.

12/15/2000 - GRVS is in the need for a meeting location.  It would be best if we could meet in a members home (a running layout is always a focal point of the meeting).  We have done this in the past with much success.  However, we do not want to over burden the couple of folks who have generously volunteered to host one of our meetings in the past.  Please, step forward if you would be willing to offer your home for an evening of GRVS fun.  Thanks in advance for your offers.

12/15/2000 - OK, we are going to have a throttle building sessions again.  I am in the process of gathering up the parts for about 10 more throttle kits.  These will be backward compatible with the ones the club has built in the past.  But, these new ones will handle about 3 times as much power.  This is for GRVS members only (and you will need to be very active with the club to get one of these kits).

10/30/00 - If you have an interest in purchasing a pre-built module (2ft x 4ft) - click here.

10/25/00 - I just heard rumor that the annual Northtown Mall model railroad show has been canceled this year.  The rumor didn't have information as to why, but it will be a loss.

Also, the Wayzata show planned for November 2000 has been postponed to April of 2000.

10/01/00 - OK here are the particulars on the show times at GATS.  Friday we can setup starting at 3pm (however, I will be there about 6:30pm) until 9pm.  Saturday, Exhibitors setup time is 7am to 9:30am (public welcome at 11am).  Sunday, Exhibitors will be allowed back at 10am (public again welcome at 11am).  Sunday take-down starts at 5:05pm - no earlier and we have until 9pm to be out.

As a promotional item for GATS, you might want to purchase an October 6th issue of the Star Tribune paper (Friday before the show).  Some of our modules might be featured in an article about GATS.

09/23/00 - GATS will be October 7 and 8 this year at St. Paul's River Center (Roy Wilkins Auditorium).  Public is welcome from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Click here for layout details.

09/16/00 - Wayzata Bay Center (James Hill Days in Wayzata).  The show was well attended and provided a good "kick-off" for the fall/winter model railroading season.  Many people attended and lots of pictures were taken (I will publish pictures in a bit - I need to wade through them first).

The Wayzata show served as a trial for the GATS show coming in October.  More details to come.

09/06/00 - Several GRVS members have had articles published in the N Scale magazine.  For more information click here.

08/16/00 - GRVS Module colors are: Dutchboy Satin wall/trim paint.  Sky board Blue is "Home of the Free" color code and the Module green is "Southern Pines" color code.  (this paint and color codes can be purchased from Menards).

08/04/200 - Great American Train Show will be at River Center this October 7th and 8th.  GRVS has sent in it's reservation form for a layout area of 13 feet by 21 feet (maximum).

08/04/2000 - Wayzata Bay Center James Hill Railroad Days show is on September 9th (9:30am to 6pm) and 10th (11am to 5pm).  Our layout will be typical of the last one we did at this location (click here).
